Just got back from a local tranny shop - i have the same code [P1811 - Max Adapt & Long Shift]. However, the guy didn't suggest the PCS, instead, he gave me a story about how this meant the transmission was slipping and that the only way to correct it would be a...rebuild?!?! I asked about the solenoid, and he said if one was bad, then the scanner would show it, but i only had the one code.

So now i'm confused....

Update-

So i got the tranny fluid flushed [the man said ti was really dirty] so i'm hoping that was a good idea. I then went down the Pontiac dealer and told them my problem. They agreed that it was the PCS, and did the repair for me.

So I go to pick up the car this evening and I'm noticing that the shifting isn't as smooth as it was before. So by the time i get home i'm slipping in and out of gears...

Needless to say i'm not really happy about it.

So my first guess is that this is due to an error at the shop as I wasn't slipping before, but i wanted to see what was everyone else'* opinion of this...

Thanks..

I'm wondering if they may have used the wrong part.

Is there a part number on the receipt? I'd imagine there likely would be a code stored. It could likely be any of the codes listed in the original link to the TSB.

At least it'* the right part number, as long as that is the one that they put in.

I would hope. But i have a feeling that when i go there they'll give me BS about it being because my car has over 100K miles on it...Either way, I feel that if it wasn't doing it before I took it there, and now it is, that some type of error occured on their part.
