This stupid P.O.*. SSEi. Only 83,000 miles and we already have to bring it in the shop for the 2nd time ever! Today the passenger side rear window broke...not the glass, it just won't stay up anymore, so whatever holds it up broke, and it is weird because I think I could probably count on 1 finger the number of times we have ever rolled it down. Can't complain though. The car is 3 years old and has 83,000 miles and it is only the 2nd time we have had to take it in the shop. (The first time was for a intake manifold gasket that leaked at about 60,000 miles...and according to them it was because the car was getting too much boost, and it isn't designed to run 12psi boost, and all that BS, but that is a very minor problem anyways, also nothing to complain about) So, I find it kind of funny when people talk about how domestic cars are junk and are always broken and foriegn cars are better when our SSEi has been in the shop 2 times ever in 83,000 miles.

Anyways, just thought I would post about this P.O.*. domestic car we own.

These 3800 intakes have been leaking for years. The supercharged and n/a leak because the gaskets are made of plastic and the get brittle from the normal heat the engine produces. It has nothing to do with boost. Even the Grand Am 3400, 3100'* leak for the same reason. The truck Vortec 350 also. All have plastic intake gaskets that crack. You would think they could have fixed this problem already.Some of these motors leak anti-freeze out of the engine so you can see there is a problem, but some leak anti-freeze internally and it mixes with the oil causing the bearings to spin which is a big oops . You don't know this because there is never any puddle under the car, you only notice coolant loss.

Oh I know it is a problem. When we brought it in to get it fixed that is what they told us caused the problem...and like I said B.*. We just paid to get it fixed, not a big deal. Its too bad GM can't fix it themselves though. They actually told us there was nothing wrong with it when we brought it in, but it was using coolant and not leaking it so we knew right away what the problem was. But that is ok, it is an easy fix, when you put the new gasket in you seal it with permatex. That is what we had them do on the SSEi, and that is what we did when we put the ported intake manifold on the GTP.

Yeah, I figured it would catch some attention that way.
