possible cracked exhaust manifold..and more
happy 4th
tomorrow i plan to operate on the bonneville se 2001.
im hearing a crackle sound when i put my foot on the gas, and its best heard right after i start the car, the engine can be warm too. remember back to childhood when you put a card on your bikes wheels so it made that "click" sound? thats what ive got.
im guessing a manifold is cracked, am i correct?
#2....the rear struts are banging around when i go over bumps. (you hear them hitting against the tower) ive done my HW searching the club and cant seem to find what that "bushing" that is cracked...whats it called on GMPD? just so when i call the dealer i know what part # to give. i get a body shop discount from GM. =)
i almost bought a new car yesterday with the GM sale, but i cant seem to giveup the Bonneville

True Car Nut
It'* possible on the manifold, but so far we haven't had a lot of cracked manifolds on the 2000+ cars. Start by checking the donut type gasket between the manifold and downpipe.
The rears are shocks, not struts. That bushing is part of the shock mount. You need to replace the entire mount.
