Smell of Oil in Heat Output
I'm starting to notice a little oil smell when using the heater. I haven't seen any leaks on the engine, and I don't seem to be using a lot of oil. It'* not a real heavy smell...just noticeable. Any ideas???

My 97' does the same thing. I smell oil through the vents but don't notice it on the ground. However I have been told I have a leak from the rear main gasket. What you are probably smelling is when you're moving it splashes back on the exaust manifold causing that burnt smell.

our 2000 SSEi does this as well as my 97 riv. It'* most likely the rear valve cover gaskets leaking allowing oil to leak onto the exhaust manifold. It then burns off and the intake for the cabin air is right under the windsheild which is why you'll smell it quite easily.

That makes sense. I saw someone else recently was having problems with leaking valve cover gaskets on their 2000+ . I guess it won't hurt to go ahead and change mine out and see if it solves the problem.

Checked bottom of car today and found a lot of oil on bottom of engine. Checked all bolts for tightness. Have no clue where all this oil comes from, doubt that it comes through valve covers.
