The rear passenger power window died. Well not really died, but something is mis-aligned. Pushing the botton to raise or lower the window doesnt move the window. You can hear the motor turning and hear some stuff schrunching and grinding inside the door panel. I can lift the window up and down with my hand, so basically the window got mis-aligned and popped off the power mechanism.

I have never removed the inside door panels off the bonneville and am not exactly sure how to do it. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Maybe somebody has posted a tutorial on how to take the door panels off with pictures to aid or something.

I'm sure it can't be that difficult to re-align the mechanism. Unless i am completely wrong towards thinking what the problem is.

Any and ALL help will be greatly appreciated! I really need to get this done before it starts raining! Help!

The rear window regulators are a very common problem on the 2000 and newer models. Do some searching on window regulators, or check the common problems thread on the top of this 2000-2005 forum first.

It sounds as if you have the common window regulator problem. Try to keep from activating that window, or you'll get the cables tangled. A fix procedure is available in techinfo.

i think i kinda figured out what'* wrong.

I took the door panel off and saw themess of a cable. The exposed section which is right above the electric motor is twisted and loose. It'* not tangled it'* just looped up on itself and loose, but it tightens up when i make the motor try to pull the window up. My guess is that the cable which is wrapped around the motor'* spool somehow slipped off the spool and now is loose.

Am i right?

I will check out the link and see where i can go from there, but my dad is thinking of taking it to a repair shop next week. Maybe i can convince him it can be done at home.

I have yet to hear of one just slipping off the spool. Read the information in the link, and it will show you the likely cause.

it seems that the fuel guage starts working then stop, and it keeps going thru its good and bad moods. ill have to wait and see what happens. I don't know exactly how wacky it is since i do not drive the bonny very often. Ill post an update once i figure something out or do something about it

There'* an inexpensive fix that has been posted on the gas gauge issue, but start a new thread on that, so we can keep this one on the window problem.

wow, i must be out of my mind. i just realized now i posted regarding the fuel guage in this window thread i must have been braindead when i posted that (and i posted it at work! ) Anyways, i probably meant to post that in the big thread with the step-by-step instructions that you were referring to.

It'* one of those oops things that we've all done at one time or another.

sorry for the extreme delay in replying to this thread, but the problem has been fixed. I didnt get any pictures taken of how it was fixed, but i do have to say thank you Archon for your help on following this issue and thanks to willwren for posting the tutorial on the repair!

Here is what the issue was:

I removed the motor/regulator and it turns out that the threads in the spool were destroyed from constant usage and the wire became all tangled up in the spool... it wasn't under tension because that little plastic bit (which in the tutorial explains that it will most likely be broken and needs to be replaced by the metal bracket which was shown how to make). Well i took off that plastic bracket and made a metal one (as explained in the tutorial). Then i wound up the cable around the worn-down spool and put everything back in place. After testing the window for the first time the bracket failed and the cable popped off. So i took everything out again and this time reinforced the metal bracket with another bracket right on-top of it (like a double-layer) and a third bracket holding it in place perpendicular to the first two. Imagine the bracket on top of the first 2, but rotated 90 degrees and it is bent around the 2 rectangular holes on the white plastic part of the regulator. After the bracket reinforcement was done, i used a file and filed down the spool so the threading was more defined and existant. I wound up the cable on the spool, put everything back in place and voila! Problem solved! The window has not failed yet!

I really wish i could have gotten a picture of the bracket to show you guys... i could photoshop something if need be.
