Does anybody know what the difference is between a '98 3.8L and a 00-04 3.8L??? I can't find a website that will tell me the difference. My 98 spun a bearing and I want to put a low milage engine in there. I found a 00-04 Impala 3.8L engine for what I want to spend, but I don't know it is interchangeable. They are both Vin K. I need to know if the motor mounts are in the same place, same kind of sensors, exhaust manifolds will bolt up or not, wiring harness, etc... Please help!

The engines should be the same. Just use your motor mounts, wiring, sensors, exhaust manifods. It should bolt right in.

They "should" be the same or they "are" the same - I need to be positive that it'll fit before I spend the big green.

yes, the mounts will be different, but that won't matter because he can just use the mounts that are already in his car. The engines themselves are exactly the same. Mounts and stuff like that are different, but thats all minor stuff you bolt on when you're putting the engine in.
