ok here is the deal I have been driving for about 2 weeks no problem.Now the noise pops up worse. I had my gf play with the gas a little and the squealing is around the belt area. I am looking to replace it in a couple days. I was looking and is there any bearings that would need to be replaced or greased when I take the belt off. Now the check gas cap keeps coming up on the dic. The final thing the vaccum line cracked would duct tape ork for a temp fix.

If I read things right, you're tracking down a squealing noise from the belt area. There are several things besides that belt that could cause this. The most likely culprit is a idler pulley. Try adding a small bit of oil on each pulley'* bearing one at a time. If the noise goes away, you know which one is bad. Replace it.

The alternator bearings could be noisy also. When you remove the belt, see if it spins freely and quitely. Do the same for the water pump, but they generally leaky first or create more of a rattling sound.

Depending on which vacuum line is leaking, that could set off the check gas cap code.

Mine did the same thing and I thought it was the belt tensioner or idler for the belt that drives the blower. After replacing both, the noise was still present. Turns out that the blower was about 4oz low on oil. Topping it off eliminated the noise. Just hoping nothing was damaged as a result of low oil condition.

The squel that you might here is also the air-con' pump clutch. try turning on front defrost with heat, it will pull the clutch in and makes the squel go away....works for me atleast Cheers The KaddyKid
