Default oil pressuse is pegged

Hello all
I took bonne out for a spin last night just to go crusing, everything went fine and the night was going good till i went to the stop light nationals. The light turned green I went ....and so did my oil pressure...its pegged at 870 kpa (It'* Canadian) and wont come down. Just wondering if any body had this happen. The two things i can think of is that the oil pressure sending unit went .....or...there'* a block in an oil passage which is starving my motor of it'* life blood. I just changed my oil not even 1000 km ago and everything was fine..help. On the brighter side, if the motor pops... V8 conversion...my wife will understand....i hope

Cheers

Open circuit. Disconnecting the Oil Pressure Sender wire results in a full scale read on the oil pressure gauge, so I would venture a guess that the sender went bad.

From our experience, it'* very likely a bad sending unit. Located just above the oil filter adapter on the rear of the engine, belt side. Easiest access is either from underneath (working somewhat by feel), or through the right front fenderwell with the skirting (splash shield) removed. You'll see it.

We've actually had a rather high rate of OP senders fail in the 2k section. Maybe a higher rate than the previous generation. Should be under $30 at the dealer.

I have the same issue. It'* pretty common on the 00+.
So just replace the sending unit and all should be well correct??

Thanks,

Tim

it would be easier to do it when you are having an oil change done...as the oil will come out of the hole when you take out the sensor

I have the same issue never looked into fixing it because the last owner put a aftermarket gauge in the car, however now knowing how easy it is to fix i think ill do it on the next oil change (tobad i changed my oil earlyer today )

wholy carp hoh did i get into the 00+ section...my bad, is it still just as easy to fix in the series 1?

Yep, sender is in the same place (more or less). I've seen some sticking out towards the rear of the car, some pointing straight up towards the hood, either way, they are all down on or near the filter boss.
