I don't have mine activated, not worth the money. I've had a mobile phone for years anyway. I always have the cell phone on my person.

I never had my onstar activated. mostly because I had no use for it and didn't see myself paying $17 a month for something I wouldn't use..

I had mine for all most a year and just never used it so i saved my self some money and got rid of it

got it free with the car.....for the year... nevered used it once... once that was over with i still havent gotten it back.. no use.

I heard a commercial for it on the radio recently... now they can retreive codes for you. So if you get a check engine light they can tell you to worry or not to worry...

Only good use I know of so far.

Some time ago I read a neat little DIY article about how to jury-rig the OnStar GPS unit to accept a terminal into which a laptop is plugged. The article explained what you would have to do to load up the necessary GPS processing software and, of course, mapping software. The result was a real trick GPS mapping system. Has anyone run across this article? Now that would be helluva way to use at least part of the OnStar system.

Onstar has alwasy been able to retrieve the codes for you. It says that in the Onstar manual that came with my 01.
