my 2002 bonneville oil pressure gauge has issues
my gauge reads 120 psi and it also fluctuates heavely when given gas. was wondering if some1 could give me some help with ideas on whats causing it and any easy fixes. Its a 2002 bonne-v6 (no super charger) has 147k miles

You have a bad oil pressure sender unit. The sensor is just above the oil filter sticking out of the oil filter adapter plate. Change the sensor and you should have proper readings.

They have special oil pressure sender removing sockets, not neccesary, but for the cost it'* not bad to pick up or maybe even rent one for free from auto-zone or something to make the job a little easier and ensure you don't damage the new sender.

I agree. I had the same problem. I have an early model firebird and it was really easy to fix. Hopefully later model cars are as simple.

Your oil pressure really can't get to 120psi unless the bypass valve is stuck closed, and that'* not very likely. When the gauge reads 120 it'* because there is no signal coming from the sensor. It could be as simple as the sensor is unplugged. A few weeks back a member had his break off.
