steer position sensor
Found this in a search.
"Went to the dealer and all of you were right. The code was for that Steering wheel position sensor. Says they are going to have to remove the steering column"
My service stability warning keeps coming up.I just changed a bad WB and checked all connections of WB sensors. One was caked in grease (cv , and all is fine here)could the grease all over sensor affect this?
How hard is it to change steering position sensor and where exactly is it.Kick myself I did inter shaft 5 days ago and had it apart.

John, The Steering Wheel Position Sensor is located down near the bottom of steering column in close proximity to that inter-med. shaft. You may have disturbed it or something along those lines while working that shaft. The Steering Wheel Sensor is part of the Stabilitrak system. It provides steering wheel position input in angular degrees to the Stabilitrak system.

I had this service stability ever since I got the car.I noticed the inter shaft was disturbed before as the boot was already cut, anyways the top boot of inter shaft goes to a round plastic piece in the steering is the sensor in there.

This diagram shows it'* location.
Looking at the technical service bulletin that GM issued regarding its replacement, it doesn't look like a do-it-yourself job.

So that is in the rond plastic piece that the top boot goes around. The boot didnt seem to fit too nicely over that.
