high idle speed

Default high idle speed

My 2000 ssei bonneville is idle is at a tad over 900, i don't know if that is high for that car, if anyone knows if that is normal or not please let me know either way and how to fix it if it isn't right

I moved your post to its own thread so you will get a little more attention.

Mine idles at 650. 900 is a little high and might partly explain why it shakes your car when you shift into forward or reverse at a stop.

Let'* see what the experts say about high idle.

Here is the target idle speed. 900 is about right depending on the engine temp. If up to operating temp 900 is a tad high.

In park/neutral at 200degrees F it is about 800-850 rpm
and in gear at 200degrees F it is about 700-750 rpm

also gauges are not accurate at all, I've found my RPMs to be off by 100-200 at idle and temp may read over 200 but it under 185, the most accurate way is to use a scanner
