Do not use tools or other objects to pry the mirror mount or the mirror away from the windshield. Using tools may damage the mirror mount, the mirror or the windshield.

1. Disconnect the electrical connectors (2) at the rear of the mirror assembly.
2. Twist the mirror to one side and use one hand in order to support the edge of the mirror against the windshield. Using the other hand, pull the mirror away from the windshield with a quick jerk.

Hmm...since yours and jwakamud are basically the same car I would expect the same mirror too. The screw would be on the bottom facing up?

I'm sorry, but I am at a loss as there has always been a 2mm allen screw in there on other years, but I do not have a 2000 style to compare it to. Are you sure that there is no allen screw there?

Nope, no screw. What Custom88 posted was information from GM on how to remove it. A word of caution, however. Keep your face and nose out of the way while doing it. I smacked myself right in the nose while removing mine, and that smarts a bit!

okay come up to a stop light thats red, and almost immediately in front of some pretty bad bumps.

when the ligth turns green, floor it.

if youve done this right, your mirror will fly off and hit your shifter, shattering the mirror.

thats how mine came off the first time.

How much did that replacement cost? Ouch.
