Default cold clunk

Well last winter I started to get a clunk when I turned right or left, warm weather came and clunk went away .Now the weather is starting to get cold again and I witnessed my first clunk only while turning right though.Feels like the rack is popping or something or possibly the u joint on the steering wheel intermediate shaft. It is not the typical intermediate shaft clunk it is just a 1 clunk when turning and has to do with cold weather.Any other ideas.

I've found that the intermediate shaft tends to act up more as the weather gets colder, so it could be the start of that. Other possibilities are: strut bearing, loose rack bolts, tie-rod ends or broken end links. I had that last situation on a friend'* 00 SSEi. You couldn't see it was broken if you jacked it up at the lower control arm...only if jacked at the cradle with the arm hanging.
