Started calling around to local shops, several who I know the owners of. The general consensus is that it can be rebuilt, but they'd prefer to replace it with a reman. I'm going with a Jasper, as they warranty the tranny for 3 years/100K miles. About $2500 out the door.

Wowser. Would it cost more for a rebuild?

Rebuild was between 18 and 21, but with a lesser warranty. My daughter will be getting this car soon, so I erred on the side of caution for her sake.
