Hey everybody. I drive a 2000 Bonneville SE. My traction Control and my ABS are on the fritz. Even when I hit the Traction control button my the shifter, it wont turn it on. I lifted that plastic piece up, and i noticed that there are 2 cords that aren't plugged into anything. I also don't see anything that they would plug into, and they dont plug into each other. My ABS and Traction control do NOT work. I was wondering if anybody had a similar issue and if you guys could help me fix this. The "Anti Lock" Light and the "TRAC OFF" light are always illuminated. If you guys could help me I would really appreciate it. Since it'* starting to get very icy here in michigan, I really need some help/advice on how to fix this for my safety and the safety of my passengers. Thanks everybody!!

What you're describing doesn't sound like a problem of something being disconnected in your console. If you can take some pictures of the connectors that aren't plugged in, I can help to identify what they may be for. Alternatively, if you can describe how many wires go into each connector and the colours of each wire, I may be able to work from that.

As for your ABS and T/C lights being on, this can be caused by a number of different failures in the related systems. There may be one or more bad wheel speed sensor(*), or as mentioned a number of other possible failures. You need to have your car scanned to see specifically what code(*) are set. This will likely need to be done at a dealership. Many non-Tech 2 scanners can't pull some of these.

Yes, it could be a number of things...my personal experience was that whenever I hit a bump in the road, the lights would come on...turned out to be a bad wheel sensor. You have to replace the entire hub assy though since the sensor is integrated. You can have them tested to see if it is the sensor...I elected to replace both hubs and haven't had a problem since.

Like others have mentioned, the WSS are the most common failure by far. Also, the electrical connectors you're seeing near the traction control button are probably for heated seat switches. The wiring is probably there, but you don't have them as an option on your car possibly?

yeah thats very true. I dont have heated seats. I'll take a picture of them the next time im in my car, The cables for them are blue. I'm going to take it up to the dealer today and see whats up. I'll keep you all posted.
