Default Strange trunk theft

Monday morning I woke up to drive my girlfriend home and realized when we got in the car (01 SSEi) that there was no music playing. After a quick runthrough of my radio settings and a few "hell no!"'* I figured out that someone had stolen my amp/subs and messed with the wiring in the process. We got to her place and I immediately saw what looked like a mark from a car swiping my left rear bumper. I looked closer and saw that there was a good 1/2 inch dent right in the middle of the lower tier of my bumper. There were no other signs that the locks/doors/trunk had been tampered with, and we never heard the stock alarm go off. So I figure that somehow someone opened my damned trunk and stole my stuff without even getting into the main cabin.
My question is: Is there any possible way someone could hit my rear bumper hard enough to get the trunk to pop? Or did someone figure out the frequency of my key-fob system somehow? It seems too coincidental that someone could hit my car and another person could steal my crap in the same night, so I'm sure they're related. They got away with my brand new F#(%!n shoes too! I'm completely baffled and have absolutely no faith in my trunk anymore.

I doubt they got the code from the FOB. It is very possible that they just managed to hit the right spot hard enough to pop the trunk.. Can you take a picture of it and post it? My guess is it was an accident, they saw the trunk pop, and it was a crime of opportunity.

My thoughts too, curious about two things though. The alarm didnt go off? and the air bags didnt go off?
Look into an aftermarket alarm, stock alarm doesnt work with the sunroof either.

That sucks man, I would be soooo pissed if anyone jacked my trunk, good thing is doubt they'ed have enough time to figure out how to get it all out. I live with this fear and got a 2 way alarm system so I'm notified when my car is being messed with.

Sorry to hear your loss.
Curious to see the hole/dent myself.

Yeah, I was kind of figuring the same thing, a crime of opportunity. I don't have an aftermarket alarm, but it looks like it'* time to get one. I'll post some pics of the dent this weekend when I get some time. Thanks for your replies.

man that is F'ed up that first they hit you, and then (while a person with some decency would write their info and leave a not) this person was so deranged as to see it as an opportunity to steal your stuff... shoes too! haha man that sucks.. this truly is a sick world.

Good luck bud.
