hi im new to this forum and have a question? my bonneville is aquealing ands its annoying!.it was fine up until i parked it for a week.i replaced my upper plenun and gaskit, pvc elbows, water pump, idler pully, and belt it still squeals mainly during idle quits when accelerating.did get anti freze on pully'* during the intake install and water pump
"Squealing" is a rather broad term. It is the belts squealing because they are slipping, or is it a rotating assembly squealing because a bearing is failing? Pull the belts and turn each pulley by hand to feel for anything other than smooth rotation. Check the belt and pulleys for signs of contamination that might cause slippage. Use a cardboard tube (core from wrapping paper for example) to listen so you can be more specific about where the squealing is coming from.
awesome thanks guys i checked all the pully'* they all spin freely i changed idler pully and it was not spinning freely i replaced it i cleaned the pully'* and reinstalled the new belt.i can start it in the morning and it will not squeal until it hits a certain temp then starts squealing mainly during idle.give it gas and it disappears.i even took it to the car wash and blasted the crank pully.. with a short house and behind the passenger tire you can here it the most
its'* the same with or with out a/c it only squeals when it hits the first big needle mark on temp gage.when im accelerating it stops antifreeze did leak onto the crank shaft pully i tried cleaning it off the best i could but nothing changed after long drives it has less of a squeal and a little chirp,i hear it most under the passenger side tire lower engine side
i did the hose method and found it to be coming more from under the passenger side engine and only squeals after it hits a certain temp on the temp gage. i can wait for it to warm up and know right when it gonna start before it starts.when i accelerate it dis appears till i let off the gas.i did get antifreezw run down the block installing a new waterpump recently
