Default Mystery Oil leak ! - Clue!!

I have had this mystery oil leak since the car was new.
It'* more annoying than anything.
It only seems to happen when I change the motor oil.
I find about two table spoons of fresh motor oil....it'* never dirty....in the front right side lower control arm casting pocket. Right next to the front frame bolted attachment point.
There is absolutely no other drips or runs or stains anywhere else on the engine or engine bay. There is nothing directly above it. No other signs of oil anywhere and never has been in the 5 years I've owned it. Always the same amount too, about two tablespoons, and always clean fresh oil. I clean it up and it doesn't come back until the next oil change.
I really don't know how it gets there. I am extremely careful to never spill a drop while adding oil to the front valve cover addition point.
How the heck does it get there???!!!!

Try pouring the oil very slowly.. I am not sure exactly of the location you are describing.. so if my advice doesn't apply, then don't mind me.

Before you start the oiil change, place a rag in this spot. When you finish pouring the oil in the car, move the rag and see if their is oil there yet. If it has oil on it then it happens while filling it, if not, you can investigate other options. I'm not sure whats over there that the oil can be coming from. I'll take the front wheel off the SSEi when I get a chance and look and see whats there that it could be leaking from, but I can't think of it off the top of my head. It really doesn't make sense that its only when you fill it unless you somehow spill it or something. It sounds really weird.

Does it purge excess oil? I heard of some engine that does that... I think...

Get a friend to pour the oil while you watch with the wheel well opened.

You do have friends don't you? Or i'm sure ur daughter would be glad to be on BC again doing oil...

I just wondered if anyone else with a 2000 SSEi had the same issue. I've looked and checked and investigated everything I could over the last 10 oil changes ....and no luck finding it. There is never ever even a drop of oil on the garage floor....just in that lower control arm pocket.

It'* engine oil....not Mazzolla oil.

It'* gotta be your oil-filling technique baby!

I agree with the others. Allow a good wrench-turning friend to give her a go. If the tell tale oil is there after he does it, ask him to help you figure out what he did wrong.
