Default Ignition Switch Problem

I am on my 3rd key ignition switch on my 2003 Bonneville with the last one being replaced 05/2009. The key turns past the acc. position but won't turn any farther thus not allowing car to start. Anyone else run into this?? Dealer say this isn't a problem but I find hard to believe after our 3rd time!!!!!

Not a problem I recall coming up. Although, 3 bad switches makes me wonder. Is this the same key?

Yes, the same key/keys. The first time ignition switch wouldn't turn all the way and they replaced the ignition switch, 2nd time key was in the ignition swith, wouldn't come out and wouldn't turn, today the wife went out to start car and switch wouldn't turn and they replaced switch. I just messed with it by taking outer cover off and looking to see if I could get the ignition switch out and low and behold the switch turned all the way and car started. Now that I can get it started (I HOPE) it'* still going to the shop!!

Spray a little WD40 on the key, then put key in and turn, do this several times. Something is binding up in there and that should loosen it up.

That'* what I did earlier, don't know if it was the fix though. Guy at shop stated it wouldn't help and that a tumbler was frozen. Thanks for your responses!!

Dont know if this will help or not!

I just replaced my ign stw, there is a adjustment on mine, thought I didnt see much difference. But while I was at advanced auto parts I got to see a picture of the ign stw for comparisen! On the screen was also a geared linkage that was part of the ign system when you turn the key.

Just guessing but if they offer the linkage it must be something that wears out.

Your may be different! I was doing my 95 old cutlass
