evening everyone,
listen, the 2001 needs apparently more engine mounts, im not as much of a fool as it could appear to be, i wanna save cash wherever. I see i blew cash on the trans mount last month, baad mistake okay i learned.
i feel it needs mounts because when im driving from 1st, 2nd 3rd 4th, you just feel the motor thump as if it were just moving around wayy too much.
my question is:
Where can i get decent motor mounts for the L36 or as close to OEM quality for the car that will last me. right now ive replaced the front trans. mount. Im not sure how many mounts there are total.
it goes in monday to be repaired and id love to have an idea of not getting screwed over if you all know what thats like.

why not try a solid front motor mount-hockey puck style? It worked great for me. While I was removing the stock front mount, it basically fell apart into to two pieces. Prior to removing the old mount the motor would move back and forth at least 2-3 inches just by rocking the car in park.
The solid mount really keeps the motor still and puts the power to the pavement. Very easy to do and inexpensive (never say cheap!!)

not that im against the NHL...... but "hockey puck" doesnt sound liike too much fun for me. plus, its a new front mount, it cant be bad. its only been on for 500 miles.
are there any other mounts that cause the engine to move much?

You need to know which mount/mounts are bad. Don't doubt that the front trans mount isn't bad again. It'* quite possible it was taking the punishment if others were bad. The hockey puck replacement is simple, effective and low cost. I have some on my front mount and they work great. Search it out and understand what the mod is....it'* not a bad choice.
Have someone put the car in gear with foot on the brake...and watch how the motor moves to determine which mounts are bad.

Hockey puck all the way. It cost me $18.72 Canadian. I used a Grade 8 bolt instead of threaded rod...way stronger. Search for the thread, its in here.

pretty much, when i looked at the engine:
In drive, it flops (literally) back towards the firewall
in reverse it faces down towards the front of the car, as if nothing were holding it in place but springs
when i drive sometimes i feel a vibration coming from the wheel that tends to shake the entire car. im wondering if i have a drivers side drive axel going on me too...if thats the case i am officially trading the car in. lets just say i could have paid her off this year in my repair bills.

If you trade it in..then we don't have to worry about the diagnosis right? 
Vibrating at speed would most likely be wheel bearing or wheel balance related. Axles usually don't vibrate until they are ready to fall out and you would have had clicking on turn symptoms.
When you were watching the mounts and engine..did the front mount appear to pull and push a lot? When in reverse..did the back of the motor seem to lift up?

with the engine in Drive, the front mount pulled big time, in reverse the engine did push itself up. so yes to the engine moving itself up.
i really really (even after installing that mirror
) am considering trading her in for a GXP and calling it a day. BUT college boy here doesnt wanna spend cash that i dont wanna.
How much do the bearings go for if its the problem? And a rough cost for engine mounts all around. (that i can probably do a searh for).
The total investments are just all new interior electronics, the original ones were chared from cigar smoke, the mirror and my angel eyes, not to mention the new tires..... so it would make more sense to probably keep the car, especially since it was re-painted in the fall of 06. Not to mention my rotor situation, but thats fixed.

You don't know if it'* a bad bearing or a bad angle causing noise.
You do know that you appear to have bad mounts that need to be replaced. The way I see it, if you are that disgusted and must get out of the car..then unload it and move on.
My mechanic buddy has said it 100 times.. No matter what you are going to pay for a car, whether it is a car payment or to fix it and sometimes both. You will pay for a car.
