Default High Idle

Hey, I have a 2000 Bonneville that idles around 1500 rpm. I think this is way too high.

Is this caused by a dirty/stuck iac?

Also, what brand of spark plugs and wires are the best?

A lot of us prefer NGK TR55s. That'* what I'm going to be using when I get a chance to do a tuneup...

Just anything but Bosch(good rule of thumb for anything with these cars...). And don't get anything platinum, either...

Does it only do it when it'* cold? If so, does it come down if you tap the gas peddle?

yes, when you tap the gas, it will go down some, but it is sill like 1100 or 1200 rpm.

What would be the problem if it only did it when it was cold?

Thanks for the quick replies.

Nothing, its just the computer trying to warm the car up

you can try unplugging the IAC and/or unplugging the MAF

To answer the plugs and wire question.

Autolite plugs work great. They cost about $1.79 each. There is no need for fancy high priced plugs. They really don't help any.

Plug wires, Just stock wires are fine. No need for fancy high priced wires. Again, they don't add power. If they need to be replaced, go to autozone and get stock replacments.
