Shifting feels "Sporty"
How hard do these 00+'* shift normally? Its nothing violent but I'm not used to it. I've been driving an 01 Impala NA for awhile so maybe I'm too fresh to it.
I noticed that if the car is cruising in O/D and I step on the gas a little to get it to shift it gives a slight nudge.
I'd really be surprised (and pissed) if the trans was having issues after only having 57k miles, having 1 owner, and he was 60.
FYI: The last Bonnie I had was a 98 and I believe the mounts were very different for the trans...right?

Your mount in the front is the worlds biggest joke for a mount. It'* a stretchy marshmallow that takes almost all feeling out of the car. Shifting you can feel...but how much are you feeling is the thing that has me wondering.
Can you feel TCC lockup ?

Nothing feels bad like I'm breaking anything, but a stretchy mount sounds exactly like what I'm feeling because it feels like hard/quick movement...not a banging. I'm assuming people still drill a hole through 2 hockey pucks and replace the front trans mount or are we talking motor mount? Otherwise does someone sell a better replacement?

TCC Torque Converter Clutch, after you are in 4th gear the rpm should lower about another 500, that is the torque converter locking up.
3 hockey pucks and a bolt. You got it.

I personally found the shifting, in particular the 1-2 shift, to be a bit sloppy....sort of slides from one to the other. That is the main reason that I bought the shift kit. There is a TSB on harsh shifts caused by a sticking pressure control solenoid in the transmission. You can try a can of SeaFoam'* TransTune to see if the smooths things out.
Also, check the front transmission mount and see if had leaked any oil. Unfortunately, it'* the bottom of the mount that goes, so it is hard to see from above. This is what a bad one looks like.

Well, then explain to me the oil that was all over the bracket from the mount, and the putrid smell that was associated with it - similar to gear oil. That mount in the picture has been cleaned up. Most of the dirt you see is from sitting in the garage while doing other jobs.
There are many ways during the manufacturing process that it could get put in. Having oil, or a similar substance in the small space between the top solid part, and the lower rubber (you can see the line in the picture) would do a great job of dampening out the lower frequencies of the engine vibration.
I had no opinion one way or another on whether or not the mount contained oil, until I witnessed it myself, right after it tore. I found it while installing my shift kit, and had just checked it a couple of days before that. So, unless someone broke into my car to open the hood, and spread gear oil (or whatever oily type substance you would like) over the mount...I stand by my statement.

When I replaced mine, there was no sign of oil, it didn't need to be cleaned and it looked just like the picture - and no oil.
