fuel pump
Hi all, on my 04 Bonneville SE, the fuel gauge now jumps from way over full to empty and in between. I think its the sensor / fuel pump in the gas tank. Is it possible that this condition could sometimes affect acceleration on the highway? Like I'll be driving at 65 mph and try to accelerate, but I have to floor it and it doesn't accelerate, just goes along at 65 mph. Also, now it is having problems re-starting if I take it out for a 5 minute trip and then try to start again. Jim

you have two of the common problems on that vehicle, the engine stuff is normally maf or ckp, ckp is not real easy to test so when it wont start try turning the ign off, unplug the maf and see if it starts and runs better, if so the maf is bad. get a good one not a cheap one they are problematic. as far as the fuel have to take the trunk access cover off and see if you jump the wires together if the gauge moves properly, if so likely the sender, if not likely something in the wires or cluster
