Default 20% Increase with Headers !!!!!

Unbelieveable
Yes a 20% increase in fuel ecomomy with my headers.

I measured it during a trip I just got back from. It is the same route that I always take with similar driving conditions.

It was a great ride too. Had the Bonne loaded with 4 people and a trunk full. Lead the road pack on every stretch of windy road.

Not bad for a big load! (no offense intended to your passengers).

What are you getting for FWY mileage now?

I probably won't find that out until I actually get to drive on a Freeway.
All of my driving around here is in hilly twisty Hwy 101 roads.
The warm up mode really puts a damper on mileage and most trips even like the one I just came back from are only 1 hour sprints and then 2 hrs of Ferry riding between them.

My average mileage under these extreme conditions is probably as bad as anyone will ever get. I used to average 15 mpg. Now it has climbed to 18 mpg.
I only reset my Ave mileage when I fill up.
I expect it to be at least 26 mpg during steady FWY driving after it is warmed up.

I just got back from over 1400 miles, made the first 200 miles in 2 hours and 20 mins 18.5 mpg with a very full trunk and 4 in the car.
Today with the inlaws following behind (100 kmh) I averaged 22mpg.
I love the headers and smaller pulley and got lots of comments from the other ringette dads about the agressive sound around town.
I did wind up losing a spark plug wire after I got to Vernon and had to replace the set, guess the lead foot was too much?

ps. no tickets

Alrighty! Can't wait for my TOGS and rockers. I'm doing it all for the Mileage ofcourse.
I'll see what I get next week on my trip to Columbus OH. Don't think a LSD will make my mileage any worse. Currently I'm right where you are Silver. 15-16mpg average.

Of course you doing it for the mileage! Isn't that why everyone puts rockers and headers on their car?

An LSD shouldn't hurt or help your fuel mileage.

We have never reset the DIC in the SSEi and it reads someting like 22.7mpg or something. It was at like 19.3 and falling when we put the 1.9 rockers on, and has slowly climbed from there up to its current point, and its still climbing. Headers should make just as much, if not more difference, like silverbullet verified.

Its always nice to have plusses other than performance when you mod your car.

Hmmmm... quick calc says averaging 85 mph, yes that'* about normal cruising speed.
How did you lose the wire? Did it melt against one of the header pipes?
Glad you avoided the dreaded radar gun.
How did the ringette games go?

My bet is you have lots of freeways where you live and they are all in flat terrain. Short roads and hills really kill fuel economy.

Another factor that really kills the mileage is running in first gear at 30 mph and flooring it to see how much rubber you can lay.

Your not including the 2 coffee stops and 1 pee break, plus I stoped and removed a very large piece of retread trucker rubber from the middle of the road (piaa'* are great).
The wire is from last weeks miss when I cleaned the coil post, was good for 600 miles then when ever I got into boost it would chug again. I picked up a set of cheapy wires for now and put some autolites in there untill the msd setup comes through.
Only saw 2 smokeys the whole the trip and as fate would have it I was close enough to the posted limit....this time
The games were great, little Jess got 9 assists and 3 goals her team won one and lost 3. Comming from a small town and playing the girls from the city was a great experience. They'll do better next year.

Yes, almost all of the miles on th SSEi are freeway miles (which is why it has 101k on it already), but I was just saying that the gas mileage increased that much with just rockers. In 30,000 miles it has gone up 3.5mpg! That may not sound like much, but it is almost 20% like your headers added.
