You can view the pics of it over in the other Bonne club forum.

When someone has developed a proper 4" metal tube and heat sheild I will probably buy it.

ADTR has the right idea with the smooth flow tube, but I feel that reducing down to 3" is more restrictive and they don't yet offer a heat shield.
Without the heat shield, I was recording cone temps of over 130 F with 50 F outside temps. With my crude shield the temp dropped to just over 80F. That'* a 50 F drop
It made a noticeable improvement in pull.

My next trial will be to remove the throttle body inlet screen.

How will I know if removing it negatively affects the MAF readings :?:
Rough idle only :?:
My fear is high rpm lean mixture and potential engine damage :(
The 3" was chosen by ADTR for a reason, actually. You don't need all the flow a 4" can deliver, and because it'* larger, the air velocity is lower. ADTR discovered better power with the higher velocity that the 3" tube delivered.

That 4" pipe you've got on there is way more air than you'll ever need. The Supercharger will PULL whatever it wants through the 3", and the velocity is much higher, and the air more laminar.

The only side-effect I've heard from pulling the MAF screen is rough idle. You have to give it time to smooth out. Drive around a bit before you give up. In your case, you'd actually be better off with the 3" if you intend to pull that.

iRocco - No problem. It'* your money and Ty has something for you, Ty and I work together, not against each other. I will stick with the intake for 92-99 Bonneville'* and give Ty 2000+. I will be making a heat shield for the 92-99 Bonneville'*.

Jstpsntym & 2000SilverBullet - I understand the temperature issue but did you every think that my intake is $145 shipped to your door powdercoated and the SLP and Thrasher are well over $220 + shipping? See the big price difference. I will offer a box and it will get closer to the $200 mark shipped with a matching powdercoated box. It'* in the works already. I am figuring out the best way to mass produce them and make it easy to open and close the box for filter cleanings.

2000SilverBullet - I understand your thoughts and ideas on 4" is better for */C... but it can't outflow it. Trust me. Even the new 03 Cobra with an Eaton 112 cannot outflow its smaller than 3" intake. Our intakes are $145 and the SLP and Thrasher are well over $220 + shipping? See the big price difference. I will offer a box and it will get closer to the $200 mark shipped with a matching powdercoated box. It'* in the works already. I hope that answers will clarify why I don't have a heat shield currenven the new 03 Cobra with an Eaton 112 cannot outflow its smaller than 3" intake. I hope that answers will clarify why I don't have a heat shield currently, even the Grand Prix guys dont want to spend the $200+ in the SLP or Thrasher intake because it is not worth the money. And I am pretty sure that same thought extends to the Bonneville people as well.

Hiccup Hiccup. No teasing Hector about that post. This is one of the quirks since the Server moved. Seems to happen to our Administrator buddy a bit more than anyone else.

Ok, I faked it. Patience, grasshoppers. Jeff is hard at school, and he'll get to it!

Hector, I understand completely. The more pieces/parts you add to something, you will increase the price. That is not my concern, though.

I actually believe both SLP and Thrasher have "over-engineered" their air boxes a little. SLP looks as though they fought to keep a stock looking box under the hood that could accept a big cone filter. Thrasher went all out with the clear cover. It looks cool as hell, but I don't know if the bang-for-the-buck is there.

I guess, I am thinking of an open style box (three sides and a bottom). Leave the top and front completely open. Have the top edges of the box close to the hood liner to almost seal it (or provide future access for ram air...nudge, nudge, wink, wink). The front edge would extend all the way up to the opening behind the headlight like the stock air box. This should be open enough to allow easy access to the air cleaner for maintenance. Of course, this looks great on paper!

It wouldn't have to be pretty, but if you need some help justifying your new powder-coater, by all means, knock your self out .

Jay, I love you.

That'* EXACTLY what I have in mind when my ADTR gets here. I already bought the polycarbonate sheet, and a brand spankin' new saw blade for the 'ol table saw to do it with.

EXACTLY. Open top, open to the headlight, and open to the fender. Closed on the side closest to the firewall, with an opening for the tube to enter, closed on the fender side until it reaches near the headlight, and closed on the radiator side and bottom.

Yours won't extend towards the driver as far, cuz if I recall, your compressor is mounted higher than mine. Your PCM is next to the fender on that side, too isn't it?

I am currently deciding how we are going to build the final production version of the heat shield box. You can either make one, or buy it from me. It'* your choice. Not my fault you didn't know about it Will, go online more.
