Engine surge

Engine surge
2001 SSEI, ~127K miles
When I slowly accelerate (especially getting up to highway speeds), keeping the RPM'* right at 2K, the engine surges. It acts like someone has reached into the engine and pulled off 3 spark plug wires. If I gas it, everything is fine. It'* just around that 2K RPM window. I've replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires. I've also had the throttle body and fuel injector service from the dealership. This was all before the warranty expired and I haven't been back to the dealership yet. Any other ideas?
Btw, this problem started about 30K miles ago

If you drop a gear at that speed does the car pull hard (ie no slip?)

Mechanic diagnosed the problem
I failed to mention that the engine is running hot on occassion. It does it at idle and while driving. I took it in and the mechanic has informed me that I'm leaking anti-freeze in one of the intakes. This is causing it to run hot and make the engine cut out. I know little about major problems like this with cars. Does this explanation sound plausible?

Not sure about the coolant leak theory with regard to your problem. Wouldn't hurt to flush the coolant system, but back on topic, if you can get a scan tool on while your driving the car (dealership, or your mech.), they'll be able to determine what'* going on there with the TCC and whether or not it is malfunctioning.
