chip installed!!
For anyone looking for a little more zip in their 2000 SSEi, I just got my ecm back from ASE with a chip installed and WOW!!!!!!!! Does it ever make a difference! Step on the gas from a stoplight and the car pulls like a frieght train. If you don't mind spending $350 and having your car down for about one week it is definately worth it.

That'* great. I've been lusting after that upgrade but it'* a long way from here to ASE to ship the brains of my Bonne.
Congratulations. You now have a non speed limited 2000 SSEi.
Get out there and clock some accelerations runs, so you can let us know what to expect. I'd be willing to bet your 0-60 runs are close to 6 seconds flat and 1/4 mi time in mid to low 14 sec range.
I can hardly wait another couple of years for my warranty to run out......maybe I'll just advance the clock a little.
Tell me. Can you really just pull out the chip and revert it back to original as easy as the advertising literature says. :?:

I have never heard about this chip before. What exactly does it do other than remove limiters? We were planning on getting a custom DHP eventually, but if this chip is decent maybe it will be better. Info???
If you think your SSEi pulls great now, get some headers, 1.9 rockers, and a 3.25 pulley, and you will be AMAZED. 50 more horsepower will really set you back in the seat.

Your warranty hasn't run out yet? Dang, you need to drive that thing more often. I was driving the SSEi today, and noticed it had just rolled 79,700 miles. Maybe Friday I can take a pic of the dash, it should definately read over 80,000 by then. Then I can switch it over to kilometers and take a pic of that.

hey whiskey
did you have to tell ASM what mods you did to your ride?
I was thinking about doing the chip B 4 I did the */c pulley. If this chip is a "generic" to 2k+ ssei bonnie owners I dont think it would make a difference.
also how well do you like the MSD setup? worth the time/effort/money = performance?
thanks
cheers

the chip is a "generic"chip. As long as you have'nt gone all our with your motor (heads, cam, pistons, etc.) it doesn't matter what mods you have.
the MSD is well worth it. the car seems to run alot smoother with the install. I found the cheapest prices through the JEGS catalog but make sure you shop around for the MSD items. I found some places to vary almost $25 dollars. hope this helps and good luck!!!

14. - Can I use the a Shift Kit with your Chip?
NO! The ASE Chip modifies the Transmission line pressure and shift points, doing so will damage the transmission. To much transmission line pressure is obviously bad for transmission.

a noticeable difference?? OH YEAH!!! the shifts are alot quicker an tighter. the chip cleaned up all of the slop in the transmission. while going down the road and you step on it to say pass someone it sifts NOW and it drops an extra gear giving you great accelaration. the response is great!! a shift kit will only give you one thing, better transmission response. the chip will give you alot more, a couple extra horse and torque, ups your rev limiter and takes of your speed limiter. i am not sure about the price difference but the chip would definately be worht it.

I'd buy his review. My Jet Stage 2 did the same for my shifting, which is fortunate considering the lack of aftermarket support for the 4T60E-HD. For all intents and purposes, the right chip IS a shift kit.
