Word for word, here'* what'* on my last service report...

"Customer was advised that the right front hub bearing assembly harness is shorting out on the axle causing the ABS and Traction Control warndings to come on. Also the rear shocks are leaking. Repairs were declined at this time..."

So, I have no idea what the hub bearing looks like, let alone what the assembly harness looks like. Can (my mechanic friend and I) replace just assembly harness? Or does this come in as one complete part?

Anybody have any experience with shocks? What brand/model? I don't need the cream of the crop, but I don't like to have cheap crap either.

as far as the shocks go go with monroe max air'* set of 2 for around $80 they work great the part# os MA822 you can get them at o'rielly'* and rock auto
as far as the harness not sure i know the wheel speed sensor that it goes to is only available with the hub assembly

Based on what the mechanic wrote up, the problem may not be the speed sensor in the hub assembly, but with the wire harness that connects to the sensor. Pull the right front tire and look for a wire going to a connector on the wheel hub (look behind the round plate that has the 5 wheel studs). Follow that wire back to see where it is rubbing on the axle causing it to short out.

If you find the wire has worn through and the conductor is showing, it may be as simple as wrapping the exposed wire. Otherwise, you can cut out the bad section and splice in new wire. Once it is fixed, try to determine some way to keep the wire from rubbing on the spot that caused it to wear through (tie strap it out of the way, wrap some protector around the wire, etc.).
