Default DRL delete instructions!!!! Read this!!!

Hey all, i am new to this forum but find it to be a great help and already learning alot about my bonnie. just wanted to let u all know that i just got the silverstar ultras all around and they are absolutely amazing and highly recomend. I didnt want the drl'* to prematurely burn out my high beams tho so i disconnected them. i searched on here but didnt find a definate answer. sooo........when u pull the drl relay the left highbeam is inop due to the loss of ground thru the relay somehow. the fix is, remove the relay. remove your left headlight assembly and disconnect from the connector. find the pink wire, this is ground for the left highbeam. splice into the pink wire and run the wire to the ground directly behind the headlight at the upper rad support. its between the upper rad hose and the airbox. put an eye terminal on the wire, remove the bolt that holds the other ground looking connector thats already there and put underneath and run the bolt back in. Voila!!!! No drl'* and everything works properly.... Just thought id share my findings with the bonnie community.

I like my ultras as well. However. I assume you have a 03? I've seen many 2000+ burn threw 2 or 3 sets of these a year. The headlights have a lot of vibration and tend to blow out the ultras. So keep this in mind, you might want to keep a extra set of bulbs on hand.

yes the actuall thing to do is remove the relay like you have said, and then make a jumper for the relay terminals to connect the ground

yes i read that on here somewhere although the instructions were vague. i read to make a jumper and connect relay terminal 87 and 30 i believe. but it didnt work for some reason. i dont remember exactly off hand but i checked with a test light before hand and believe one is power and one is ground that wouldnt have been good. but my way worked out ok, so im happy.

on 96-99 Bonnevilles all you have to do is locate the DRL resistor under the driver inside fender-- towards the front-- single plug-- white resistor--about 4" long resistor and unplug it. And thats it, no more DRL'* and no bad side affects.
