Default Weird Rattle Noise....

Ok so i've had my car 3 months and had a few issues. Well now I am getting a rattle from my driverside mainly when i hit bumps. I swear up and down that it'* the strut mount, but everyone keeps saying no, it'* fine. Could it possibly be a tie-rod? I figured I'd ask before I go jack up the car and wiggle the tire.

Pearl, You're headed in the right direction. Jack the car up, remove the driver side wheel & do some close inspection up there. There'* just no other way that I know of with out a crystal ball.

Oh pearl, forgive my ignorance. Didn't realize you were female & expecting on top of that. In that case please don't strain, protect your baby. Perhaps a friend can help you out with this situation of jacking up the front end of your car.

Pearl Mark is right, take it easy we have to take care of our future BC members LOL.
Who said it is not strut mount, and can you be more specific about the rattle.

Strut mounts will usually clunk...not rattle.

Singscountry had an issue with a noise that she made up her own word for.. "Jinkle" I think it was. Ended up being the backing plate on the front brakes.

What makes you think it'* a strut vs any of the other possibilities? It sounds like you have some background and reasoning.

I was wondering the same as Bill. Most things in the front suspension that I can think of would be described as a clunk, instead of rattle. Tie rod ends, ball joints, struts and mounts, etc. The end links also could rattle, but it seems a bit early for them to be an issue. Stranger things have happened, though.

Ok, well I'll start from the beginning of it all. When I bought my car it made an odd noise while turning, kind of like a moan noise. Well the dumb*** dealer I bought the car from said "Oh...it'* your struts". So the proceeded to change the struts and mounts. Got the car back, did the same thing, but I also was getting noise from the strut tower too. So this all kept going on for 2 months and they finally realized what the moaning noise was. It was my rack and pinon. If you guys remember, i told you about that being bad before. Ok, well anyway, I NEVER had this noise until they messed with the struts. Well they then decided that the mounts they put in were defective and changed them again. And ever since they changed my strut mounts the original time, I have had this noise. When I first start the car in the morning and drive, it doesn't seem to do it until I've drivin for about 10 minutes or so. When I hit bumps, or go over railroad tracks, I get a rattle and then a clunk like the mount is raising or something like that. And when i turn the wheel I get everynow and again a noise that sounds like a spring going "boing". So this is why I keep saying it'* something within the mounts, but the dealer keeps saying no, and a local shop said no. But they have no other explination for what it is. So yeah....that'* my story

After all of that, I can see where you would think that it may be a strut mount. Did they change the strut bearings when they changed the struts? That'* likely what the "boing" sound is from while turning...or rather the cause of it. There'* a TSB for the spring seat and insulator, but the symptom of that is a squeak.
