Default Steering wheel squeaks and creaks and moans and groans?

I've noticed lately that my steering wheel seems to "creak" when I make low speed turns. It sounds like it'* coming from the interior side of the firewall. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?

Thanks,

It sounds like the column itself. You can actually "feel it" in the wheel. It feels lower into the column than the wheel. I wonder if there'* some sort of bearing in the column that needs grease.

Is this something other than the intermediate shaft problem? When mine went, it had a clunking feel and sound to it, but no squeaks and groans. That is down by the firewall, has two u-jioints and a slip shaft A relatively easy fix if you dont' mind standing on your head under the dash.

I'm not sure if it'* the intermediate shaft or not. Given my current run of luck it probably is.
