Default Engine cooling fans

Hi. I know the fans on my 00 SSEi are electric..but, I just had some work done on the car and now IM wondering if the fans shouldnt be turning on? Although Ive only had the car out for short trips since back from the shop and the gauge is sitting at about 200, about normal for this car. But it just seems that on a 12-15 mile trip the fans should kick in. ??

Also since getting the car serviced including oil change, the warning system keeps saying 'engine oil low' even though Ive checked and it is full and clean oil.

Any ideas or suggestions on this one?

The PCM controls cooling fan operation. At 223 deg. f, the cooling fans run at low speed (fans in series) via the cooling fan series/parallel relay. At 234 deg. f, the coooling fans run at high speed (fans in parallel). If you're running engine coolant temperature at constant 200 degrees, the cooling fans probably won't be required to run. As for the low oil level warning, there is an oil level switch/sensor that apparently is defective. It is located on the front side of the oil pan.

Thanks for the info on my cooling fans.. I guess they are OK then. Just a bit jumpy as Ive had a few issues w/ this car this year.
As for the oil level swith / sensor.. since my guages show good pressure should I assume that the sensor doesnt need immediate replacement?

Thanks again

David

If you want to watch your fans run, just turn on your A/C full blast. The fans should run on high speed with the A/C on. Otherwise, they should operate like markwb described.

Do you have a full 5 quarts of oil in there? That'* what our cars take. I run 10W-40 in mine year-round because of the warm climate. I believe the oil level sensor in mounted to the oil pan. That should be fairly easy to change out.

David, The oil pressure sensor is another instrument aside from the oil level switch/sensor. The oil pressure sensor is located on the back side of engine in close proximity to the oil filter.
