Default intermittent a/c not working, also flahsing "A/C OFF&qu

Hey all,

for about 6 months, the A/C has been on the fritz. Sometimes I turn it on and hear the compressor click, sometimes not. The other day it didn't work in the rain and the windows got so foggy inside I had to pull over, with my 3 year old in the car. Scary. Another funny thing I saw for the first time, when it didn't work, the auto climate control was flashing "A/C OFF" when I tried to turn it on. I have never seen this before. Is the compressor bad, or do I need a recharge?

Thanks

Could be a number of A/C related issues. It is difficult to diagnose without seeing and testing, but might be as simple as a recharge. Then again, what caused the loss of coolant if it does need a recharge? I'd get her to your fav GM mechanic so you know for sure, and sooner the better. Need to keep the little one safe.
