I have spent some time browsing the Cadillac owners Northstar forum to get a feel for the Northstar issues and problems. Here is the link:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...splay.php?f=23

It looks like the primary problems for the pre-2000 models is leaking head gaskets and head bolts stripping out. Other than that, the engine seems to do O.K. I just hope the head bolts/head gaskets problems do not carry over to the post-2000 model Northstars!

Just for clarification, all 2000+ models have this problem. My Aurora has the vibration problem between 65-75 and you can feel it on both 2000 bonnevilles slightly as well.

You shouldn't have anything to worry about. The northstar engines were basically a complete redesign after the 2000 Model Year.

I have to agree with Wil, my 2K ssei has zero leaks. Outside of the usual stuff like the window regulators, intermediate shaft, and the drivers heated seat not working (all under warranty) I have had no other problems.... So far , lol

Well my mom made a decision yesterday. She called the dealer and said she wanted the Greystone GXP. They gave her a great deal. With tax and tags, it is more than 11k off sticker. No other dealer could come close to that deal, even with an SLE. We will get the car tomorrow and i will try to get some pics up tomrrow night or possible tuesday. Thanks for everyones help.

I got some pics, kinda dark, but my camera sucks and it was 10pm. I make a quick cardomain page. I will be updating it over the next few days and getting more/better pics of the GXP.

Looks Great. Nice choice and 11K off of the sticker to boot. That is almost 33% off. Tell your mom she did a good job getting a fantastic deal.

The Greystone Silver was my second choice for a color.
