groaning and a stiff brake pedal
Merry Christmas everyone!
I drove down to Baton Rouge to spend Christmas with the family, and about 2 hours into my drive I heard this kind of metal on metal groan and the brake pedal was awfully stiff too. This happened around 75 mph. It had been raining pretty hard for a while and and slowed to a drizzle when I experienced this; I'm not sure if the moisture would have caused/contributed to the problems or not.
I pulled over and did a quick check, nothing looked out of sorts. All the fluids looked to be at the right level, maybe a touch low on brake fluid. There was some steam coming from the left front wheel; I'm calling it steam because I didn't smell any strange smells and it was humid, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't smoke.
After I let it rest for a while I started out again and the groaning went away but there for a while the brake pedal was still stiff. By the time I made it to Baton Rouge everything was back to normal again,
If there is something wrong I'd like to get it fixed before I head back home (safety comes first for me and my car). Anyone have ANY ideas as to what could have caused the goaning and stiff brake pedal?
Thanks,
Corey

I've had a similar problem with mine today. It doesn't want to stop very good, and the brake pedal is pretty stiff, but it'* been raining most of the day, so I'm chalking it up to wet brakes. It sounds like that'* the problem in your case also. Mine didn't make the groaning noise, but other cars I've had did that when the brakes were wet. If tomorrow it does the same thing, and it'* not wet out, take it in to a mechanic. Otherwise, I would just say it was because of wet brakes.
