From what I have seen learned, when the PCV system is not working, you get pressure in the crank case, the pressure needs to be over come by the pistons on the down stroke, ie, loss of power. The PCV keeps a vacuum in the crank case balancing the piston stroke out. With to much pressure, it only has one place to go with the PCV is not working, and that'* up in to the heads. It passes the oil as the oil is draining back down. It then mixes and you have foam. I like Bills idea of drilling a hole in your rear cover, use a step drill. But in a grommet, and pick up a external type PCV valve and connect to a vacuum line with a T adapter. Clean and easy. If you can get the LIM notched out, do it, that just gives you another PCV to keep a stronger vacuum in the crank case.

I'm going to have to agree with a coolant leak somewhere, there shouldn't be any reason for the oil to go south that fast, are you losing any coolant?

Also, I think you should rebuild the PCV system. Maybe put a PCV valve in both valve covers and then run a line to a tee and then run that to the blocked nipple on the splitter thing. . . . . ontop of the supercharger. How thick are the new aluminum valve covers?? We may be able to tap them and use a screw in style PCV valve.

Can you do a coolant system pressure test? That will tell you for sure. In my experience coolant in the oil turns it to milk.

My local Advance Auto and I think Autozone both have the free loaner tool coolant pressure testers.

I actually would skip the pcv on the LIM because I like a better gasket where ever possible and the only thing that scribed line is going to do is mess with gasketing.

I'd either leave it venting or add a pcv to a valve cover. Another way the W body guys do it is to tap into the charger by the pcv instead of going tot he TB.

Typicaly though .. the pcv is actually and I'll correct myself again..not designed to pull vacuum. that'* the reason for the ball..to cut off vacuum and only allow the positive pressure to push it up.

Some guys have added a vacuum pump.

The coolant level hasn't changed at all over the week and I drive a good 20 miles + per day, so if it is leaking it can't be very much. Who knows what could have gotten screwed up during the 300 or so miles I drove my car with everything pressurized from the PCV being blocked off. It could very well be leftover gunk from before. When I look into the valve cover the oil is not milky, but underneath the breather there is always water and a "milky" substance.

I will see if I can get my hands on a coolant pressure tester and give it a go.

Found another PCV document PCV Bypass

One thing that I find interesting, is they mention if your going to block of the PCV system, you need to block off both the inlet and the outlet. Would this apply to our engines as well?

Dan, you mention pressure building up in the crank case. Does the crank case not vent through the valve covers? If not, is there a way to vent the crank case as well?

Bill, perhaps that is why your friend has a dual venting system?

The valve covers are sealed, unless you put a breather on them,

I did. A temporary solution to prevent further damage until I figure this whole PCV thing out.

What is best, to unblock it, or to vent it. That is the question. It seems to me that blocking the PCV off completely and venting everything would be the way to go. But as I have said before, I'm still trying to figure out how the whole thing works.

You can't see it, but I just took my cap off, and gorilla taped this guy on the filler. $9 at autozone.

Okay so we need to run vaccuum lines from both valve covers into a catch can, so all th oil is sepereated out of the air, then put a pcv valve on the catch can and plumb that to a source under vacuum pre-supercharger.

I think if you took a PCV like this.

Drill a hole in the valve cover and put a rubber grommet on the hole. Then stick a PCV like that in the hole and connect to a vacuum source.

All this talk of drilling holes in my brand new valve covers is making me cringe...

I guess what I should really consider is, Dan and Bill, both of you are intercooled and obviously your setup is working.

Dan, you have a functioning PCV and a breather, and then tuned for the vacuum leak?

Bill, you have a PCV blocked by the intercooler with only the front valve cover breather?

Whatever you guys are doing is obviously working. I just need to figure out which method will work for my car.

I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get this done right, but I really hate the idea of putting holes in my new valve covers.
