Those tires were meant to be on our Bonne'*.
255 50 R 17 size is the same diameter as the stock tire but 3/4" wider which really only 3/8" wider on either side of the wheel.

The drag tires I use are 255 50 R 16. The contact patch width is greater on these tires than my Potenza 255 50 R 17. 9 1/2" vs 8 1/2".

After running with them for a year now, they have never contacted inside the wheelwells. Just a very slight brushing about 1 square inch on the lower inside plastic shield.

You will absolutely LOVE them in the wet and in the dry they will punish you.

Just put on a new set of shoes on my Bonnie too. I ended up going with Hankook Ventus Sport K104s in the 255/50R17 size. Same thoughts ran through my head when they were installing them... "They are just too big!!"

Here they are:
Hankook Ventus Sport K104

Treadwear rating of 280/AA/A. Had a 500 mile round trip drive yesterday and although they were definitely audible at lower speeds, higher speeds did not make them louder and they handled water great. Fully installed for $115/tire.

My old RSAs still had about 1 year worth of tread left on them, but at 5 years and 46k miles old, they were starting to dry rot a bit. Better to get rid of them than to have one come apart...

Looks awesome. Thats the same size I will be getting in the next month or so... When you take some more pics could you take one from the front of the car with the wheels turned all the way so we can see just how wide they are. Again they look great..

does increasing tire mass that much slow down your acceleration at all?

Doesnt feel that much of difference in acceleration, but the grip is definatly there, the road was a bit more dry and i floor it gradually in first, leaving 2 large black mark like 10 feet long, i was not spinning really but it leaved mark barely visible.

Normaly it spin.

I will see the result when the track will open this next friday

my old tires got me a best of 2.192 on 60' , just one time, average was 2.25.
