Is it just me, or do all Bonneville suck in snow? The steering went wack immediately, and I might as well not use my traction control. Is this common, and is there anything to correct it?

actually i drive an 89 that has no traction control and it'* the best front wheel drive car to date that i've driven in the snow. The only problem I have is the tires are do darn wide and they wanna spin all the time

Today is a perfect example, we got 20 cm of snow last night/today, it took me 2 hrs to get to work (usu 1/2hr) only cuz of traffic. However, I have yet to lose traction this winter and we have had a TERRIBLE winter.
Today I was helping my kid bro do his papers and I watched 3 Hondas and a Ford Contour get stuck on a side street. While I passed by with no problems whatsoever....LOL, I lowered the window and said "NEXT TIME GET A REAL CAR!!!"
The Bonneville is one of the best winter cars, heavy, front wheel drive, and lots of torque. NO BETTER Combo ladies and gents

what size of tires are u running on your 89SE? I'm running 215/65/R15'* and living in wyoming i'd like to be able to find a good winter tire but it seems like the only thing in this size is either performance or touring. What about a good solid winter tire?

My car does good and its a 96, only thing thats bad on it is the rear tires will get sqruily, but I had the tire tread checked and it was 3/32or 2/32, compared to the 9/32 in the front. But I hardly drive that fast in the snow for that to happen. Actually I have taken my car in a field with I say a good 5 inches of snow and it handled, I was always loosing traction, but it was fun. Did some donots in reverse, man that is so easy. And some with using the E-Brake. But I never drive like that on roads, just stupid. I've seen way to many acc. in ditches on Toto RD. here in Knox. 3 of them were within 1/12 mile on the same road. People go too fast in snow/slick situations.

Today we're possibly getting another 3" of snow here in North Jersey. When driving thru this stuff, I keep my blood pressure low with Firestone Winterfire 205/75/14 Snow Tires along with Winter Wiper Blades and Prestone De-Icer Windshield Washer Fluid. With bona fide Snow Tires you can Go and Stop on any snow covered roadway!! It also minimizes going sideways on snow covered twisting secondary roads. The rubber jacketed wiper blades help prevent ice build up on the blades and the de-icer fluid clears away the slushy crap that the cars/trucks in front of me throw on the windshield. Hmmmm.....I think I'll pour some of that de-icer fluid around my electric antenna the next time it freezes up.
