Default 2000 SSEI Front Strut Question

I have a 2000 Bonneville SSEI that is just over 60,000 miles and I am having the dreaded steering wheel shake problem. Wheels have been road balanced, brakes have been changed and two shops now have told me that it probably is the front struts, since they are close to nine years old now. My question is...Do I need to replace the springs in the front if I am having no problems with them or should I just replace the strut only and then take it to a shop for front end alignment? Is there anything else I should change if I have the strut out? It sounds like a fairly easy job if all I am doing is replacing the strut and not the spring, but I want to make sure I am covering everything if I am down there doing the work.

Thanks for your advice.....

It could be your struts, but let me ask you when you say you changed the brakes, does that include rotors? If not it could be a simple case of slightly warped rotors.

yes, sorry. the rotor have been changed in the front along with new outer tie rods because the shop technician stated that they did look bad. After tie rods were replaced, front alignment was completed. As well, new tires were put on and these new tires have been road balanced two different times by different shops. This issue is driving me crazy and this is the last item that I am going to change.....after that, if it does not work, the car is getting sold or traded for something diffferent. hate to do that, but the problem just drives me crazy on the road when I am driving.

Might as well replace the coil spring insulators while you have everything tore down.
