Intake decision
I have an autozone intake with 2, 6" straight pipes going into a red cone filter sitting on top of my PCM mount. The temps are going down here tomorrow and I was wondering if i should put my gutted airbox back in..... I am kind of in a toss up between what i like better.
I like my mom'* stock intrigue how it'* quick, but quiet. And I like the noise my intake gives my car, most days. Sometimes it just seems like the noise is almost a nuisance. I want to keep getting the gas mileage i have been getting...(415 miles per tank).... and keep my performance. I like the gutted airbox because it seems to pull the same at WOT and it still keeps the car at a reasonable volume. I think it would be annoying if the car was any louder, starting it in the cold.
I know willwren says the autozone intakes are crap, to me it feels like my intake gives it a little more, but it may just be the sound it makes, tricking me. I guess I am looking for an opinion on the intake dilemma.
I would get a FWI, but I am still working on paying off my car ($450/month) and I am paying for college right now, so I can't afford it.

Dont think itll make that much of a diff with and N/A car, with no other mods, if you have gutted airbox or CAI. Heres what I did on the low$ for my 01 SSEi, kit started out from Advance auto
and dont mind the lil butt filter, now have a K&N. Have also moved some stuff around/modded it, Ill get some pics up tonight.

Yeah, I think I may make a heat shield. I might as well keep it in.
Now everything'* good to keep it on for winter right? it gets awfully chilly here, I am sure everyone knows what a winter is like anywhere near the great lakes.... so the colder the better right?
My filter is not quite as big as the K&N but definitely more than twice the size of that white one.
I'll try to get pics up as well.
