You can use dex cool or green just MAKE sure there are no other types of coolant in the system or you will end up with Brown sludge. So whatever you use just make sure its all thats in the system

Negative. Its not the DEX-COOL it is the plastic framed intake gaskets that are usually faulty. They get brittle break and go bad easily. There is a revamped version using an aluminum frame and those give no issues.Dex cool is fine as long as its not mixed with any other type of coolant

i like to use the prestone extended life because i never had any issues with it, and you can use it in anything. i have quads, truck, older car, newer cars all i use is the prestone. its cheaper than the name brand dexcool too. they have it at walmart.

There has been a debate on Dex-Cool causing problems for years, some say the EHA-2 in it can become too acidic if oxygen is trapped in the coolant system, this usually only happens from improper coolant maintenance from what I have read.

I have a 96' Park Ave and have used Dex-Cool since the car was made in '96, I replaced the coolant at fairly regular intervals, and the only thing I think the Dex-Cool did was plasticize my UIM where the throttle body coolant ports are, the lip that holds the gasket in place fell apart as I removed the TB gasket, I am not 100% sure but I think the Dex-Cool'* EHA-2 could have gotten a little air in the system from me not knowing I needed to bleed the air out once I replaced the coolant, so I guess that was user error more than anything.
I will say the aluminum fins inside my radiator look like new still, so the coolant protects the aluminum really well if maintained properly.

Most people that use Dex-Cool either continue to use it, or they do a full flush and replace it with Zerex G-5.
I think you would be fine continuing to use Dex Cool as long as you replace it regularly, and make sure no air is trapped in the system.
I know they recommend replacing it every 150k or 5 years, but I still replace mine around every 75k, or 3 years, whichever comes first, I plan to get a radiator pressure test kit soon so I can know when my cap ever starts to fail to hold the proper PSI, because if your system is not holding the right pressure the engine is going to run a bit hotter, and that is not going to help the nylon 6,6 LIM gaskets, UIM, or coolant elbows.

Here is a good read on Dex-Cool, but it can be a little confusing..
