SSEi Bonnie is having a Nervous Breakdown. Code after Code
Yes, I am the one that had all doors but the driver side stop working (all power gone to them). Still not fixed but soon was told it was a bad ground under the passenger seat by a few. Bonnie seems to be throwing me a new code every week now. She does not like the cold, most codes come when it'* cold. I regularly get a Service Theft System (or similar) everytime it'* cold. Once car warms up, it'* gone. Told was maybe a sticking door sensor. Aside from my many other little problems poping up (Bad shocks 2 weeks ago and the door electrical problem ongoing) I am now receiving the infamous "Service Stability" now. Last week the traction light went off to tell me I had no trac control enabled and at the same time the ABS light went on in the dash. I restarted the car and it went away on a couple of occasions, but now almost evertime I start it comes on now with another twist for the first few minutes of driving (until the car or whatever it is causing this) warms up the car engages the ABS when I come to a stop. Clanks and clatters away like normal as if I were sliding on an icy road but of course no ice or slippery conditions are present. I have read all the Wheel speed sensor and similar reasons but was wondering if anyone had any additional input. I have also had a low droan or whir coming from fornt left tire it seems form months and a lsight soft rubbing ound can be heard when I come to a slow stop with the window ipen as it the rotor or pads or dirty or are rubbing, they seem fine though. I regularly smell oil coming from the engine coompartment (for months) and as I said before there are the odd small dots of oil on the driveway but I see no other dripping (was told problably the intake manifold gasket - does this sound right). Car has 142,000 kms, not a heck of a lot for this tried and true engine. had the car for a year. Looking at most likely well over $1000-$1300 in repairs I imagine. I must have the worst 2001 in history as a little of the car seems to be giving up each month. Of course I have little money right now. There are half a dozen other concerns I have but these are the major ones. Thinking about leaving her unlocked in the amll parking lot from now on. I love it but fear I have bought my first Pontiac piece of crap

Wow! What a HUGE block of words! I almost drowned....
Many of these things you list may not be as expensive as it seems right now.
I personally recommend that you take care of any grounding issues you may have first, as they often cause symptoms of other major problems that may go away afterwards.
We can probably help you walk through the repairs on this if you want to do the diagnosis and repairs yourself.
Taking issues on one-by-one may get you there quicker than it seems.
Or was this just a rant?

Buck up..get off your buns and go fix problem #1. The door power issue. Whatever this problem is..it'* electrical. You seem to be having more and more electrical issues. Fix the origin and it'* very possible the rest will be fixed with it. Check your battery cables etc. Buy an FSM and look up the symptoms since we haven't been able to help. Don't give up.. get even!
On the engine.. sounds like the valve covers are leaking. Very normal. I changed out my gaskets and all was well.
Fix one thing at a time and you will notice..that less things go wrong when all other things are up to speed.

Technical Ted and Markwb had posted several things in your thread about the doors, and had the last 2 posts (other than moving to electrical). There was no answer from you. Did you do the things that they suggested? As mentioned, the grounding issues could be a significant part of your problem. It'* also likely the service stability system, ABS and traction control are related as they all use the same sensors. I agree with the valve cover gaskets on the oil leak. The back ones in particular seem to leak.
Do the things that were suggested, then get back to us on how things went, and we'll go from there.

Thanks Bill and Archon, I will review again as I am not sure what you are referring to, I must have missed a few replies, I tried many things but will most likely tak einto dealer. They want over $200 in labor but will not devulge what they think is wrong with it. I was thinking the same thing about the first problem being related and agree it must be dealt with first. Seems funny though these problems just seemed to pop up all of a sudden when the door problem has existed for months. Heat in the passenger side still works fine. I was going to try to take passenger seat out myself to save labor time when I do take it in but it looks fairly crazy under there, I ill most likely make it worse, no? IS it easy to do? I mainge there is a wirign harness or other things to watch for. .

no Rant lash. I genuinely want the car "back" but my original infatuation and excitement with it seems to have greatly diminished over the last 6 months or so. It was the first "real" car I have owned in years. I could actually pass again without fearing for my life on a two lane highway. I even buy it the expensive drinks when we go out (instead of regular unleaded - but to no noticable mileage or peformance gain at all over the last 6 months). All the words are supposed to cover my butt and give the pros all the info they need or it was at least an attempt to provide more info to save time. Thanks for your input

FWIW - the service stability system error likely will be a dealer fix anyway. It'* probably the steering position sensor (ever had work done on the intermediate steering shaft?) which requires dropping the column, checking which of the 3 sensors your car has... It'* quite a process. Once that is repaired, your ABS and TC issues may very well go away.
It looks intimidating under the seat, but most of that comes out with the seat. I think 4 bolts hold it down.

I started to have many of the same bizarre issues as you are having but I lucked out in that the first thing I did was clean and tighten the negative cable at the battery and all was good.
If you have the worst 2001, I lay claim to the worst 2000 although I will admit that I haven't had any transmission issues yet. Outstanding things to do when I get the time are front passenger side wheel hub, heated seat, radio lights, block heater, heater fan, intermediate shaft and coolant leak. I'll do all of these myself but I'm paying to have the AC compressor installed.

Be careful when removing seat from car not to let any sharp edges hit door panel or carpet retainers. Hang in, don't despair. You've got a good machine that needs a few bugs hammered out. We need feedback from you with regard to some of these problems. There may be some items that need to be looked at by a dealership technician, granted. We'll arm you with all the information that you need when you approach the service desk, don't worry about that. And maybe we can help you resolve some of the other things yourself as well.

I reported a clunk when turning left when I first test drive the ca, although I am sure it was when I applied the brakes as well but cannot remember. The dealer looked at ti before I took posession and it was gone when I picked it up, that was a year ago. Never did tell me what it was. So if all the gadgets come out with the seat, maybe I will want to leave it there if it will not save much time to remove since I would have to take it in with the car anyway. I just couldn't guess why there was still over 2 hours labour on it at GM when they had told me they did a similar one and were pretty sure they new what it was. Thanka again
