Default 2001 leaks water on both driver and passinger sides

Has any one heard of this problem? This car leaks like a sive. The door seals all look good but every time it rains the leaks come in at the front of the doors on the bottom and the carpet gets wet. The thing is starting to stink. Oh yea the trunk leaks too but not as bad.

the water deflectors in the doors are most likely the problem

Merril, You will have to remove the interior door panels to access these water deflectors. What happens is the water deflector (thin translucent panel) seperates from the butyl sealant along the bottom edges of the door allowing water to enter down near the carpet retainer (door sill). It'* a sneaky thing to say the least. Do a search in this 2000 and newer forum for water leaks, you'll find plenty of info. As for your trunk leak, give us more details. Post your year & trim level in the signbature area. And the sunroof drain tubes as stated previous can be another source for water to enter your car.

The car is a 2001 SE. I don't have a sun roof so that can't be the problem in the trunk. The seals around the rem of the trunk are all good. I hope I can fix it because the wife is about to trade it in she thinks its a lemmon. I have had two other Bonnevilles and had very good luck. So far I am not impressed with this one. Also on a side note I have a super charger coupling and nose bearing kit for a 98 SSEI I would like to sell if any one is interested.

Alright, the best way to approach this trunk leak is this. Remove all items from trunk. Remove the interior trunk panels & the trunk floor mat. Check the spare tire well for any water, if water is present, remove spare tire, jack, lug wrench etc. Now for the easy part. There are two ways to do this: 1) Close the trunk lid, go into the back seat, open the pass thru & shine a bright light into the trunk. Have someone run water over the whole area of the trunk including maybe the lower 1/3 of thr rear window. Check very closely for a leak. 2) leave the trunk lid open, get a 1 liter bottle of water. Pour very slowly the water into the drainage trough on the right side of the trunk, observe it run down to the triangular drainage opening at the left top side of the right side tail light assembly. the water will eventually drain out through the rear bumper area, but look very closely in the trunk for any water coming in. Put your head right in there & look at the tail light bucket area. Pay special attention to unibody seams. Then also do the same procedure on the drainage trough on the left side. Either of these two methods should bear definitive results.

Thanks for all the help!!
I plan to get the doors fixed over the weekend. Any suggestions on what sealer to buy.

The trunk will have to wait until it gets above freezing. I don’t want a glacier in front of the house.
