Default Automatic Transaxle Fluid and Supercharger Oil changes...

Hello:

I am bringing my car into to have the automatic transaxle fluid and supercharger oil changed on my 2002 SSEi.

I thought I read someone on this forum of a new transaxle fluid to use with this car - as well as a new supercharger oil - other than the ones recommended when our vehicle manuals were printed.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

Thanks!

I've heard good things of using Dextron6 in your trans.

And the supercharger oil...GM put a letter out a few years ago saying Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic is ok to use in the supercharger. This one bottle cost'* about $5-$6 vs the $8-$9 per bottle of supercharger oil and you need 2 of them. Some people on here get the 5+ quarts of Mobil1, change engine oil, and use the left over oil to change the supercharger oil.

Dexron VI is an upgrade to Dexron III that came with the car new. Dexron VI is backward compatible meaning it can be used in all previous Automatic Transmissions (except manual trans, transfer case and PS).

Note - You do not need to use GM branded fluid, everyone has a Dexron VI ATF on the market. Use a name brand product and avoid the store brands which are made for a profit at a low price, quality be dammed. Dexron VI is a lower viscosity ATF with improved additives.

With a SC'd engine you need an oil that can with stand high temperatures so a synthetic oil is a better choice. Again, use name brands.
