Default Near-miss for the Tranny Darwin Awards

I recently had my tranny serviced and had a pint of fluid sitting in our garage in case I needed to add some after driving around. Long story short... my rommate used my transmission fluid and replaced it with a pint of the same brand of motor oil... use your imagination. :?

I performed an emergency fluid and filter change in my driveway without turning the engine on and let the oil drain really well before installing the new filter and buttoning everything up. I'm thinking that I should be okay since there shouldn't have been any fluid sucked into the torque converter. I just wanted to check with the experts to find out if the trace amounts of motor oil could still cause problems down the road and if I should get my tranny flushed again soon?

As long as you never started the car and did a pan drop with filter change and cleaned everything out real good with brake cleaner you should be fine.

I agree with Todd. As you've dropped the pan, replaced the fluid and filter, and cleaned everything up, anything that would be left behind would be such a small amount that it won't be a problem. Now, as for your roomate......

I'll be stringing him up a tree as an example to all...

Just got back from a trip to Vegas over Thanksgiving and it seems to be running smooth as butter. Disaster seems to have been averted. (At least until my roommate starts storing old anti-freeze in oil containers.) I'll be double-checking all my fluids from now on.
