I was asked to post about the leaks in my 2000 Bonneville SLE, here goes...

The day I took her for a test drive, it happened to be a rainy day. We took a look in the trunk and noticed the interior was damp, but at that time we werent sure if there was a leak or if the rain had run down off of the trunk when we opened it. I bought my Bonneville in September 02.

When it was apparent that there was indeed a leak, I took it in to have them fix it. At that time it seemed to stay dry for awhile...but not for good. That winter is when I first noticed the floor getting damp...I would usually place my bag on the floor at the edge of my seat, and I noticed it was getting wet and musty smelling. At first I wrote it off as snow getting tracked in and I didnt think too much about it, after all it was a fairly new car, I didnt think I would have troubles like that.

Eventually I had to take it back in for the trunk leak. They claimed that with the way these cars are made... I belive he used the word 'uni-body' that merely driving over the railroad tracks could put a crack in a seal and cause it to leak again. :?

At that time they were also supposed to look for the cause of the floor being wet on the drivers side floor... they kept my car for a week... so they could get it good and dry. They did give me a rental at that time. But the leak has yet to be fixed. Last falls torrential rains that we had in the area left me with a puddle in my drivers side, back seat floor.

I felt all around the windows and sunroof and nothing felt damp.

One of my biggest problems is the fact that Im not demanding, or b*tchy enough to make them do this and do it right this time. Nor am I knowlegable to tell them what needs to be done or to even do it myself. This may be the last nice car I ever own, and its really irritating that it has to have this kind of problem.

If I ever get it fixed, what would new carpeting cost?

So, suggestions anyone? It will be greatly appreciated!

i had a couple of leaks too, it all depends on which dealership you bring it to, from what i was told they have a special guy that just deals with weatherstriping come in once a week to work on water leaks in general, maybe its time to go to another dealer

There is a couple of drain tubes that run off the rear the off the sunroof and down the rear quater panels. If these get plugged with debris the can 'pop' off and drain into the rear floor wells.
You can also fold a dollar bill in half length ways, with the window rolled down, close the door so you can slide' the bill along the door frame to find a loose spot. Pull back abit of the weather stripping and apply some silicone to build the area up. Let cure and replace the weather stripping.

Now for the trunk use the sticky guidelines and dont forget the spoiler mounting bolts or 3rd brake light.
