Default Simple way to identify if wheel hub is 1st design or 2nd design?

Going to be doing major front end maintenance on the Bonneville. Work may include replacing lower control arms, CV axles and wheel hubs. I will also replace the rotors and calipers. At 188k miles, my main mission was to replace the lower control arms. With having everything torn apart, I figure spending another $300 in parts and have the front end all new is worth it. I want to keep the Bonneville till 300k, and want it safe and tight. I have already replaced the front struts and stabilizer bushings. I will also be replacing the brake pipes and brake lines.

Went to check prices on the front hubs, and RockAuto shows two types. 1st design and 2nd design. Anyone know a quick way to identify what my Bonneville has?

The 1st design appears to have a steel wire clip, the 2nd design has a plastic wire clip. Maybe it doesn't matter- but I hate to order the wrong one and be stuck.

i currently have both. right side is plastic, left side is metal. i really dont think it matters. but if your bonnie is your DD i would get one from a local place. they tend to go bad without warning.

As far as I know, the only difference is that clip being metal or plastic. Either will work just fine.

I have a wheel bearing from a 2000 SE on my 2003 SSEi and it works perfectly fine with no ABS issues.

+1 on this. I replaced the my wheel bearings with Timken'*. They appear to be very well made and high quality.

Gents,

Thanks for the input. Based on your replies, we can confidently know that it does not matter if one uses design one or design two when replacing a 2000+ Bonneville wheel hub.
