2004 Helm Service Manual Arrived
Finally came in the mail all three books and 14 pounds of anything pertaining to a 2004 Bonneville. I have to say this is my first real GM Manual and it will take some time to get used to it. I have had other Chilton’* manuals and a factory manual for a 1984 Ford Thunderbird. So far the Ford manual was easier to understand and it is printed on a better quality paper. As a bonus the electrical diagrams were in color that matched the actual wires.
It will take me a little while to get used to this type of a manual but there is a logic in how it is laid out. I was disappointed when I looked up the wiring for the fog lamps and the index referred me to a wrong page, it was two pages off. I also looked at replacing the door speakers and the procedures were very easy to follow.
To remove the inside door panel there are two tools referenced to use for he process. Where can I buy theses specific GM tools?
Also if anyone needs help with a 2004 model I will try my best to help.

Congrats on the new manuals. The 04'* are 3 volumes long now? I've removed my interior panels on the 2 front doors with out special tools, just carefully. I know the special tools to which you refer, but don't know where to get them. Probably Mac, or Snap On. You could go to the dealership and ask a tech. for help on where to get special tools like those called out in the manuals.

HowY:
It is in there I just have to figure it out. The schematic is not all in one area. I will need to reference three different drawings.

The look see is much appreciated....
While your flippin pages in the "library" have a gander
to see if there is a procedure to clear the dreaded
"service engine soon" light...
"Fart in passenger seat - spit on drivers rear view mirror
press and hold seat recline while paying homage to the
GM powers that be.... etc."
Be nice to have another means than breakin out
my buddys OMNI scan tool to clear the code after
every fill up...
Yeah I'll buy a new gas cap sooner or later!
You Da Man '95SLE...
BTW the books worth the buck fifty?
well written.... ?
diagnostic flow charts?

It is written well but I am having a little trouble understanding the logic of how the information is presented. I am used to reading technical manuals but this is a little different.
It is written well and has the look of an Army TM, written for dummies. Lots of pictures including the tools that are needed.
There is a full list of the DTC'* and RPO'* Very nice indeed. No mention of how to turn off the indicator light.
The flow charts are there for some trouble analysis.
