Well, I'm getting closer to having to change my OE Goodyears in my 2k. I'm looking for a good all season that performs the real good in the snow/slush/ice. I have the stock 17s and want to stay with them. Sure, I want good performance and a long treadware too, but many times the real good performance tires stink in the snow. Any suggestions or experiences whether good or bad?

I don't have the cash to have seperate winter tires. I know that would be the best option. Yet in getting aggressive treading, I don't want something that will wear out too fast and not be able to bite on the pavement when I want to take it up a notch.

If you prioritize safety high on your list of necessary purchases, and you will be driving in cold icey snowing weather, then you really need to fork it out for a reasonable set of winter booties.
Rubber compounds are very different and so is tread design.
Think of how much a minor winter fender bender would cost you.....let alone a major one. :(

I don't drive my Bonne on wet roads if I can help it.......never in the cold, ice and snow.
So my choice is ultra high performance summer tires.

I put these Toyo Proxes TPT'* on back in June. So far they appear to be excellent tires on dry & wet road surface. I have no reason to believe they will not perform well in winter. I drive conservatively in snow & ice.

If you are looking for something very very cheap, yet effective, check out the Cooper Trendsetters. I have them on mine. The speed rating isn't high on them, and they are no performance tire, but they are great in any condition. It will save you money too.

Thanks for the replies. I was looking at the Goodyear LS tires. They aren't that great for performance but have a fair treadware rating, and better than most in the snow, at least so say the comments and ratings at tirerack.com. I like the A2'* but everyone is having issues on treadware. I like the Michelin Pilot Sport AS, they are the best, but very expensive.

I want to comment to what you said silver bullet. I agree with your comments. The real bummer is while searching for 15 inch tires for my wife'* century, there are tons of tires which are, in fact, good all around. I'm probably going to get her the Goodyear Regatta 2'*. They have real good snow traction, and high sevens and eights (out of ten) in all the other catagories. they are less than half price than most of the 17'*!! I can't find that in our 17'*. In our catagory it'* either feast or famine. Good treadware, bad performance; good performance, bad in snow.....

That said, I'm not complaining, just trying to plan out which tires are the ones I'm looking for.

The Pirelli PZero Nero M&* look real good. The price isn't so bad either! Anyone have them? If so, how much did you pay for them? Tire rack has em for 123 bucks, how much more to get them from a local store who carries Pirelli?

I went with the Pilot Sport A/* and I do have to say that the wet weather traction is far superior to the stockers, can't comment on snow traction, tires have been on for about a month now. Cornering is also MUCH better, I love taking this one *-ramp from highway to highway at high speeds,

As mentioned above ,get ready for some compromises as one tire can't do all things well.Also,your idea of "real good in the snow" might differ from somebody else'*.Big blocky tread lugs with lots of open space between them might be great in the snow but not handle well and be noisy as hell.In the past I had good all around success(but they were just all season radials not performance) with tires made by BF Goodrich that had the same tread pattern as the radial TA'* have these days.The worst (in the snow)were Bridgestone turanza'*.You might try the tire revirews/ratings at tirerack.com and ,heaven forbid,check out the Consumer Reports Used Car Buying Guide.In the middle is a section giving ratings on : performance,mid level and economy all season tires and truck tires.They also rate batteries.

Yeah, the reviews for them have been all around great. Can I ask how much you got them for? They are around 193 bucks or so at tirerack.com. I figure they will be more on the street since the will need to be mounted and balanced.
